CPRS-VI members Susan Evans APR and Jen Morgan had their work recognized at the joint Canadian Public Relations Society and Global Alliance Comm Prix Awards Gala on May 31, 2016 in Toronto. Their submission Island Health magazine won a Gold Award of Excellence in the Best External Publication category.
“Congratulations to Susan and Jen for their outstanding work on Island Health magazine,” said Peggy Kulmala APR, CPRS-VI President. “Their work on this publication contributes to healthy communities throughout Vancouver Island.”
The quarterly magazine was developed as part of Island Health’s broader communications strategy to improve the health of the population through health promotion initiatives and improved access to health information.
“Island Health magazine is produced in-house by our communications and public relations team,” said Toni O’Keeffe, Island Health Vice President and Chief of Communications and Public Relations. “Magazine editor Susan Evans and designer Jen Morgan do an outstanding job working with our clinical areas and public health to create a publication that provides information related to managing health, coping with illness, seasonal health and wellness tips as well as information on the programs and services available to residents of Island Health’s region.”
Island Heath magazine recently received two other awards: the 2016 Gold Quill Award of Excellence from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and a Platinum Award – the highest award category – at the Hermes International Award Competition.
“We love the magazine and it’s gratifying to be recognized for our work,” said Evans. “The recognition by our peers at CPRS was especially meaningful.”
